Recovery at gravel plant next to Neuried

A crawler excavator fell into a lake and seemed to slide to the bottom.

Fortunately the driver of the crawler excavator was not injured. The customer asked us for this difficult rescue. Arriving at 5:30 pm our staff worked out a plan very fast and made all necessary preparations. At already 20:00 our crane Grove GMK 6300 with 97 tons counter weight was ready. The second crane, a Grove GMK 5130.2, was set up right after. In the meantime the customer could prepare the crane storing positions to prevent the cranes to also crash by the rupture of the waterside.

Careful action was necessary in order not to put the diver from Freiburg at risk. The difficult circumstances made the operation more complicated; the emergency services of the fire brigade Neuried-Altenheim were always involved with oil barriers and boats on the water side. The prudent and professional approach of all parties prevented a leakage of operating and hazardous substances.

Due to the excellent cooperation between the drivers, customer’s staff, MSG team and the fire brigade, the crawler excavator could be finally rescued in the early morning hours. Both cranes made the rescue by tandem lift.
