Grand Paris Express

Paris shined in blue

On Saturday evening, an overwhelming inauguration ceremony took place on the occasion of the arrival of the first tunnel boring machine for the Grand Paris Express project in Paris. The MSG is involved in the gigantic infrastructure project Grand Paris Express, which includes the construction of four new metro lines and the extension of two existing lines in the Paris city area. In the project a total of about 200 km of new tracks will be built underground. For this purpose, several tunnel boring machines from Herrenknecht AG are used, with MSG being entrusted with their transport and erection.
After French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe visited the site a few days earlier, around 5,000 guests, including many politicians, as well as representatives of the press and television, experienced the stroke of the most important part of the machine, the cutting wheel, with our HK 700 and HK 400. On site, the project team of the MSG.
For several weeks, the employees of MSG planned, supervised and successfully carried out the transport and the lifting of the tunnel boring machine. Lifting the 135-ton cutting wheel at a depth of around 20 meters was the crowning glory.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our customer, Herrenknecht AG, for the trust placed in us and all the companies involved, including the company Capelle Transports SAS, the authorities and of course our employees for their professional and competent work. Also in the future on further joint projects.
The international cooperation of all companies shows once again the living European work culture, which MSG also underlined with the founding of the  MSG Levage Sàrl in September 2017 in Strasbourg.
With this project, MSG Levage Sàrl has impressively demonstrated its efficiency. With mobile cranes in the weight classes of 40-750t, the MSG Levage Sàrl based in Strasbourg offers its customers in France their services far beyond the borders of Alsace. And all this without any language barriers and with the usual experience. As MSG Levage Sàrl is not only one of the biggest large-scale crane operators in Eastern France, but also counts project logistics as its core business, our French clientele has many new options.
